CBP Announces Spanish Option for I-94 Features in the CBP One Mobile App

CBP Announces the Addition of a Spanish Option for I-94 Features in the CBP OneTM Mobile App

Release Date

WASHINGTON — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced today that users of the CBP OneTM mobile application to file applications for, or retrieve electronic versions of, I-94s will now have the option of selecting a Spanish version to enhance their experience and better facilitate international travel into the United States.

The CBP OneTM I-94 features offer a mobile app version of CBP’s I-94 website, providing a more convenient way for travelers to apply for an I-94 up to seven days prior to arrival, review their past travel history, check their I-94 expiration date and obtain proof of their electronic I-94 from their mobile device.  Users accessing the features to “Apply for I-94 in Advance” and “Get My Recent I-94” with have the option to select “English” or “Spanish” as their preferred language.

The Form I-94 is the record of arrival and departure issued to all persons entering the United States except U.S. citizens, returning foreign visitors, foreign visitors with immigrant visas, and most Canadian citizens who are visiting or transiting through the United States. Foreign visitors can also use the form to adjust their status or extend their stay while in the United States, but must depart the United States on or before the departure date indicated on their I-94. Those who must prove their legal-visitor status to employers, schools/universities or government agencies can access their CBP arrival/departure record information from CBP OneTM or the I-94 website.

More information about Form I-94 is available here. Air and sea travelers, who are issued automated I-94s during the admission process at the port of entry, can also use the app to check their travel history, I-94 expiration date, and obtain proof of their electronic I-94.

Launched on Oct. 28, 2020, CBP OneTM is a mobile application that serves as a single point of entry for travelers and stakeholders to access CBP mobile applications and services. Through a series of intuitive questions, it will guide each type of user to the appropriate services based on their needs.

CBP OneTM can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play, but the cost of applying for an I-94 using the mobile app is $6 USD, which is the same cost as applying on the I-94 website or upon arrival at a land port of entry.

Although having an approved ESTA is not a requirement to enter the United States via the land border, it will become mandatory on October 1, 2022.  Today, citizens and nationals of Visa Waiver Program countries must have an active ESTA to use the CBP OneTM I-94 Apply feature. CBP encourages these travelers to obtain an approved ESTA (https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/) to take advantage of the time savings offered by using CBP OneTM or the CBP I-94 website (https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home).  With an ESTA, these travelers can apply for their I-94 in advance of arrival and avoid filling out the Form I-94W at a port of entry.
